Caroline is an experienced urban and regional planner with expertise in research, engagement design and analysis to inform the development of evidence-based government policy and strategy in government and academic contexts.
Caroline led the development of the Sunshine Coast Council Community Strategy 2019 – 2041, a 20-year vision designed in collaboration with the community. This project was awarded the 2020 Award for Planning Excellence by the Planning Institute of Australia (Queensland) in the Public Engagement and Community Planning category. More recently, Caroline held a post-doctoral research role investigating best practice community engagement as part of an innovative regional partnership agreement with the University of the Sunshine Coast and Sunshine Coast Council.
With a passion for community, Caroline also volunteers her time as Chair of the Sunshine Coast Community Foundation.
Caroline has a Bachelor in Urban and Regional Planning (Hons.) and a PhD from the University of the Sunshine Coast where she is now an Adjunct Fellow in Community Development, Urban Planning, Sustainability. Caroline has published in international journals on transformational community engagement, social capital, impact measurement and city futures. Caroline holds an IAP2 Certificate of Engagement.
